Helping Educators Become Culturally Connected

Juveriya Mir is a high school educator that teaches History and Geography in suburban Chicago. She was formerly an international educator in Saudi Arabia for an International Baccalaureate school.

Juveriya has participated in forums on culturally responsive teaching and parenting. Her goal is to create equitable lesson plans that empower students to celebrate their histories and culture.

Being a student for life is a luxury, teaching for life is an honor, being both at the same time is glorious. Juveriya has her Bachelor’s in Social Sciences – History with a minor in secondary education and film studies. She also has her Master’s in Teaching and Learning and is currently pursuing an endorsement in Educational Technology with the University of St. Francis.

She has made traveling a goal in order to show her two daughters (age 10 and 7) a world beyond their backyard and to bring back artifacts to be used in diverse classroom lessons.
