I’ve decided for my Genius Hour project, I’m going to learn how to ride a bike! Looking over my list, I feel like learning how to ride is not only beneficial for my health and joy but will also give me the chance to spend more time with my girls who love riding bikes. I have decided to spend approximately 15 minutes per day on this adventure and keep on trying until I get the hang of it. I have previously tried on my sister’s bike and once I couldn’t even get myself to take a seat on the bike, I gave up. I mean, how do you even swing up on the bike without taking a tumble? I’ve decided to pursue this project just like how I would conquer any task, doing my research.

For some odd reason, I had previously never googled how to ride a bike for adults. Looking at the multiple articles, I felt less nervous. It seemed like there are multiple adults around me that didn’t know how to ride a bike and have the same crippling fear. With practice, many adults were able to successfully ride. I’m hoping I will be one of them. This new burst of confidence made me feel motivated.

I don’t actually have a bike right now, this is where the stimulus check comes in handy. I made an appointment for a bike shop this weekend. They are going to measure me and recommend the right bike for my height. I think that will help me learn easily if the bike is made to my dimensions. I also found that there are adult tricycles. Knowing this information gave me renewed drive because I don’t want to be riding around in a tricycle, that would be a sign of defeat. I’m looking forward to receiving my bike and hopefully will be able to ride it this summer. It’s going to be hard, but anything worthwhile always is.
