Helping Educators Become Culturally Connected
I’m a high school educator that teaches History and Geography in suburban Chicago. I was formerly an international educator in Saudi Arabia for an International Baccalaureate school.
I participated in forums on culturally responsive teaching and parenting. My goal is to create equitable lesson plans that empower students to celebrate their histories and culture.
Being a student for life is a luxury, teaching for life is an honor, being both at the same time is glorious. I have a Bachelor’s in Social Sciences – History with a minor in secondary education and film studies. I also have my Master’s in Teaching and Learning and am currently pursuing an endorsement in Educational Technology with the University of St. Francis.
I have made traveling a goal in order to show my two daughters (age 9 and 6) a world beyond their backyard and to bring back
artifacts to be used in diverse classroom lessons.

Student empowerment is truly life changing for them. During 678, we explore PBL and I think you’ll find some great opportunities to empower your students!

What a beautiful name! I am in awe by your passion to bring cultural experiences to your high school classroom. It is so important for students to recognize that their culture is welcomed and appreciated. We need to teach acceptance and tolerance for our students in order to have a future of equity. I look forward to hearing more about your travel plans with your daughters. What a remarkable experience that will be for them!
